Casino Profit Making Technique
Maximizing Profits
How is that possible? We'll tally for the green chip player since he or she represents middle ground between black and red: Let's assume you play $25 per hand. That means your average bet is around $50. Let's also assume you play 100 hands per hour, and roughly 200 hours per year. By the way, two hundred hours per year equates to one four-hour interface per week-a very likely total for the capable part-time player, and in some cases probably a little conservative.
$50/hand X 100 hands/hour X 200 hours/year = $1, 000, 000/year. Red chippers may have a problem getting in 100 hands per hour, for the reasons mentioned earlier. And so the product of this equation for the nickel player won't be proportional. Keep in mind that these are estimates for dedicated, part-time players. Double or triple these amounts to calculate what a full-time player puts into action on an annual basis. Penetration Is Paramount "More favorable rules and conditions" often boils down to this: penetration, penetration, penetration. And, by the way, I'm not talking in any way about what this word more commonly is used in reference to.
Play-of the-Hand-Type Rules
Certainly being able to split pairs up to four times is a favorable rule and tips. And certainly a game where the dealer stands on Soft 17 is better than one in which he draws. But once you come to terms with these play-of the-hand-type rules, all that remains is how deeply into the deck or decks the dealer is dealing.
Penetration is the single most important factor to advantage blackjack play, and should be at the top of your priority list every living, breathing second you are within ten feet of a blackjack table. Of course, bet spread is also of prime importance, but penetration should dictate whether or not you even play to begin with. It's also likely that finding a game with good penetration may take some time. Consider this time well spent. Don't fall into the trap of settling for what's available-you'll be spinning your wheels for no reason, especially if penetration is better somewhere else. If penetration isn't acceptable, don't even bother playing.
Presentation
Following are a few finer points regarding penetration:
Some casinos use shoes with notches that force dealers to create consistent penetration levels, whether good or bad. Often, these shoes have several different notches for several different penetration levels, any of which can be used upon direction from management.
Some dealers can be influenced as to where the cut card is placed, especially on those tables having shoes without notches. Influenced, in this case, means using verbal persuasion or tipping as a method to gain better penetration. However, the utmost tact should be used when attempting to persuade dealers to deal more deeply into a shoe.
Penetration levels can vary from casino to casino. Thus, if levels are borderline at one venue, keep in mind that better penetration could exist elsewhere. As well, some casinos change penetration levels from time to time. This may be an attempt to bolster profits by increasing the number of hands per hour dealt, or an attempt at thwarting advantage players like card counters or card-counting teams.
Penetration can vary depending on geographic locale. Some areas are known to have better penetration levels than others. This simply becomes a function of experience. I always ask friends (who know their way around casinos) to check penetration levels for me when I hear that they're traveling to deist- Nations that offer Australia casino gambling. Casinos with consistently good penetration seem to be more proactive or aggressive in identifying, backing off, or barring card counters. This isn't always the case, but I have seen it (sensed it) time and time again.
